Eight people killed in bus explosion in Nigeria
The driver and at least seven passengers were killed when a bus hit an improvised explosive device in northeastern Nigeria. This was reported by Vanguard newspaper on 12 April, reports EADaily.
It is indicated that the incident took place on the Maiduguri - Damboa - Biu Federal Road, along which the bus was travelling in a convoy of private and commercial vehicles under the protection of the military.
It is suspected that the explosive device was planted by the militants of the Boko Haram terrorist group. The incident was confirmed by the head of the area where the explosion occurred, Lawan Maina. According to him, the bus driver and seven passengers died on the spot, while many others sustained various degrees of injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
He also called on the Federal Government and security agencies to redouble efforts and support Borno State to fight Boko Haram terrorists.
