Taliban Announces Elimination of a Daesh Terrorist Cell
The official representative of the Taliban (designated as a terrorist organisation and banned in the Russian Federation) Zabiullah Mujahid on his social media page organization announced the elimination of a Daesh (designated as a terrorist organisation and banned in the Russian Federation) cell in Afghanistan. He indicated that the militants were involved in attacks on foreign missions in Kabul. According to Mujahid, a large-scale and well-coordinated operation was carried out on January 4. The Taliban attacked terrorist hideouts in the capital and Nimruz province in the west of the country.
These [Daesh] members played an important role in the attack on the Logan Hotel and facilitated the infiltration of foreign members of the organization into Afghanistan, a Taliban official said.
He noted that the Taliban eliminated eight militants during the operation, arrested seven more, and destroyed three shelters.
Earlier, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev desctibed the current situation in Afghanistan as extremely complicated. According to him, the prospects for its normalization are not visible, although more than a year has passed since the change of power in the country. Patrushev said that the system of government created by the Taliban and their internal policy do not help the country.
