Two Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in an airstrike in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, Xinhua news agency quoted the Iraqi military as saying.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Joint Operations Command's press office, Iraqi troops conducted an intelligence-based airstrike targeting an IS hideout in a desert area in Anbar province.

Initial reports indicated that the airstrike eliminated two IS fighters and destroyed weapons, ammunition, equipment and logistics, the statement said.
