Six terrorists have been killed in a reconnaissance operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, Xinhua news agency quoted the military as saying.

Security forces carried out the operation in Kalat district where the terrorists were reportedly located, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in a statement.

An intense firefight took place between the security forces and the terrorists during the operation. According to ISPR, six terrorists were eliminated.

ISPR said the killed terrorists remained actively involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies and targeted killings of innocent civilians.
