Four terrorists who were preparing an attack on a police department in Derbent have been detained in Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports citing the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the republic.

“Members of a terrorist community who were preparing an armed attack on a police station detained in the republic of Dagestan. <...> Five residents of the republic <...> united in a stable group to carry out an armed attack and commit an explosion at the Derbent department of Russian Interior Ministry. To this end, they purchased the necessary components for the manufacture of explosives and improvised explosive devices,” the release reads. 

As the agency indicated, one of the terrorists was eliminated on April 22 when he offered armed resistance to police officers with armed force.

Investigators sent a petition to the court asking to arrest the detainees.

A criminal case has been opened under the articles “Creation and leadership of a terrorist organisation,” “Preparation for the illegal manufacture of explosives” and “Preparation for a terrorist attack.”
