At least two terrorists were eliminated in a gunfight April 23 after Indian security forces thwarted their attempt to infiltrate into India's Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir across the Line of Control with Pakistan in Baramulla District, the Indian Army said.

The Indian Army said a large number of arms, ammunition and other military items were recovered from the terrorists.

The clash came hours after at least 26 people were killed and several injured in a terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. The Resistance Front, a group affiliated to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. This was the biggest terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir in recent period.
