Turkish security services detained thirteen people in Izmir suspected of ties with the Islamic State

During an operation against ISIS carried out in the western port city of Izmir, 13 suspects were detained, Kazakh portal ctc-rk.kz reports with reference to TRT.

Izmir prosecutor's office said the operation took place after the office issued arrest warrants for 15 people, 12 of whom were Syrian citizens, on suspicion of ties with the terrorist organization.

The ongoing investigation found that the suspects were linked to conflict zones in the region, spreading FTO narratives on social media and participating in fundraising for the group.

In simultaneous raids on several addresses in Izmir, 13 suspects were detained and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects, the agency said.

During the searches, police also seized 1.36 million Turkish liras (about $35,545), some gold and various digital materials.

Efforts are underway to detain the other suspects.
