The Pakistani military reports a large-scale counter-terrorism operation in Khyber Pakhtunkwa province, east of the capital city of Islamabad. The report says that a large group of militants intended to break through the country's border from Afghanistan. The militants partially succeeded.

Pakistan's press office said 54 terrorists were eliminated in a fight in the border region. That is the largest number of terrorists ever eliminated by Pakistani security forces in a single combat. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered after eliminating the border violators, and a cache of weapons and explosives was discovered as well.

Pakistani military casualties were not reported.
