Police in Brazil have stated that they prevented a terrorist attack at a free concert by American singer Lady Gaga, which took place on Sunday, May 3, on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.

According to law enforcement officials, the criminals recruited teenagers who were supposed to use homemade explosive devices and Molotov cocktails. Two people were arrested during the police operation: the alleged organizer of the planned attack and a teenager. The first one was arrested in the state of Rio Grande do Sul for illegal possession of firearms, and the second one in Rio for possession of child pornography.

The police said that the group that planned the attacks was involved in radicalizing teenagers and inciting hatred, including against members of the LGBT community. While preparing for the attack, the organizers posed as members of “Little Monsters,” an international fan community of the singer.
