Attack on police officers in Makhachkala not regarded as terrorism
A criminal case has been opened in Dagestan on charges of attempted murder of law enforcement officers, according to the Investigative Committee of Dagestan Republic.
“The Third Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Republic of Dagestan has opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes according to Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Attempted murder of law enforcement officers), Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Unlawful seizure of a vehicle without intent to steal) and Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft of weapons),” the statement said.
EADaily reported that on May 5 at 2:20 PM, unknown individuals fired on a police post in Makhachkala and fled in a police vehicle. According to preliminary information, two Interior Ministry officers were killed and two militants were eliminated. The search for the perpetrators continues.
