Eight militants eliminated by military in northwestern Pakistan
Eight terrorists were eliminated in separate operations in Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Xinhua news agency reported, citing military sources.
Security forces carried out operations based on intelligence in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Bannu, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army.
During the operation in North Waziristan, three terrorists were killed in clashes between security forces and terrorists, the ISPR said in a statement.
In a separate clash in South Waziristan, two terrorists were successfully eliminated, the ISPR said, adding that one soldier was also killed during a fierce shootout.
Three terrorists were also killed during security forces' intelligence operations in the Bannu and Khyber districts of the province.
A huge cache of weapons and ammunition was found at the dead terrorists. They had been actively using these weapons to carry out terrorist attacks against security forces and to kill civilians in the area.
