The Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow has remanded Russian citizen Shakhoz Davlatov in custody on terrorism charges, according to TASS.

The arrested man has been charged under Articles 30 and 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted membership of a terrorist organization).

According to the court ruling, Davlatov recently obtained Russian citizenship. He adopted the ideology of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, banned in Russia, and attempted to join one of its structural units. Investigators believed that, if released, the defendant would attempt to hide from law enforcement agencies or contact other members of the group, and therefore requested that the court remand Davlatov in custody. The court agreed with the investigation.
