Two Israeli embassy employees shot dead in Washington

Two employees of the Israeli embassy in the US were shot dead yesterday evening in Washington as they left the Capital Jewish Museum. This was reported on social media by US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

Later, the Washington police in the US district of Columbia reported the arrest of a suspect. According to Police Chief Pamela Smith, the 30-year-old suspect opened fire as Israeli embassy staff were leaving an event at the museum. She added that during his arrest, the suspect shouted “Free Palestine!”

Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered increased security measures at Israeli diplomatic missions around the world.
