Investigators have identified a 41-year-old native of Dagestan who is currently abroad and may have persuaded two local residents to attack police officers in Makhachkala on May 5. This was reported by the republican investigative committee. 

Officials believe that from January to May 2025, the man communicated with two Dagestan residents via messenger and convinced them to create a community in Makhachkala and carry out a terrorist attack on May 5.

As a result, the attackers entered into a shootout with law enforcement officers. Three police officers were killed and several were wounded. Two of the attackers were eliminated.
