The Central District Military Court has handed down a verdict against two organizers and four active members of a terrorist organization that is banned in Russia, according to the press service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Ulyanovsk region.

"The defendants maintained contact with emissaries of a foreign terrorist organization and followed their instructions to raise funds via an internet messenger. The funds were used to purchase weapons, ammunition, medicines, and food for militants involved in terrorist activities in the Middle East," the statement said.

The residents of Ulyanovsk were detained by officers of the regional FSB. They were charged under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1, Part 4 of Article 205.1, and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (Aiding terrorist activities, participation in the activities of a terrorist organization). “They have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 9 to 23 years,” the press service said.
