Russian special services detain four more militants from the Basayev and Khattab gang
Four more militants from the Basayev and Khattab gang who participated in attacks on Russian military personnel in 1999 and 2000 were detained by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian National Guard, and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
"Irrefutable evidence has been gathered proving the involvement in this crime of Arsen Koldasov, Rajab Khasaev, Batyr Arsanov, and Rasul Takhtamirov, who have not been punished for this crime. In cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard, they were detained at their places of residence: Koldasov in the Stavropol Krai, Arsanov in the Republic of Ingushetia, Khasaev in the Republic of Dagestan, and Takhtamirov in the Astrakhan Oblast," the FSB said, as reported by EADaily.
According to the Investigative Committee, the detainees were involved in attacks on the Botlikhsky district of Dagestan in August 1999 on military personnel near the village of Chervlennaya in the Shelkovsky district of Chechnya in October 1999, and on Pskov paratroopers in the vicinity of the village of Ulus-Kert in the Shatoysky district of Chechnya in February 2000, which resulted in the deaths of more than 130 military personnel and over 80 wounded with varying degrees of severity.
They were remanded in custody and charged with banditry, armed rebellion, and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
