Militants from the Al-Qaeda-affiliated group Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin carried out two major attacks in Mali, according to the Telegram channel Directorate 4.
In the Mopti region, jihadists attacked a Malian army unit in the town of Dioura. The attackers, who outnumbered the government troops, quickly suppressed the resistance. According to propagandists, more than 40 soldiers were killed in the fighting. The militants seized weapons and vehicles and burned armored vehicles.
In the Kaes region, terrorists attacked the site of the Chinese company COVEC, which is engaged in road construction and repair in Mali. The attackers burned construction equipment, warehouses with materials, and barracks. According to some reports, the jihadists planned to kidnap foreigners, but those were timely evacuated. There is no information about casualties.
