Wanted high-ranking ISIS member detained on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border
During a joint operation by MIT and Pakistan's ISI intelligence agency on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, a Turkish citizen wanted on the orange list and suspected of organizing the transit of ISIS militants was detained, TRT reports.
According to information obtained from security sources, MIT claims that the transit of ISIS members from Europe and Central Asia to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region was organized by a man of Turkish origin. He was also the so-called “senior leader of Turkish ISIS,” who was active in the organization's media and logistics.
Investigations revealed that this person was Ozgur Altun, codenamed “Abu Yasser Al-Turki,” who was a “high-ranking Turkish media official” in the so-called Khorasan structure of the ISIS terrorist organization and was included in the “orange” category of the list of persons wanted for terrorism.
The Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, which was operating in Afghanistan and had been informed about the alleged ISIS terrorist planning to move to Pakistan, assured the MIT that all necessary support would be provided and emphasized that Turkey's enemy was also Pakistan's enemy.
In addition, as a result of a targeted operation carried out by MIT and the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, ISIS terrorist Altun was captured on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and deported to Turkey.
During the operation, the plans of the ISIS terrorist organization against Turkey were foiled, and digital materials related to the planning and organization of their activities were seized.
