ISIS reported on activities in the “Western Africa Province”

In the weekly newsletter of ISIS called “Naba,” propagandists claimed that militants had carried out attacks on four permanent bases of the Niger and Nigerian armed forces over the course of a week, according to the Telegram channel Directorate 4.

More than 30 soldiers were killed and dozens were wounded by the jihadists. The attackers burned 20 vehicles and seized various weapons. During the attack on the checkpoint in the Nigerian city of Dikwa, terrorists used two vehicles packed with explosives to prevent reinforcements from coming to help government troops. The jihadists detonated one of the vehicles, causing casualties among the military personnel, while the second failed to explode and was abandoned.

The Nigerian Ministry of Defense reported that the military, with air support, repelled two attacks by militants. Up to 50 jihadists were killed in the clashes and airstrikes. The military also seized an abandoned car rigged with explosives.

The governor of Nigeria's Borno state, which has been hit by IS the hardest, informed the Nigerian president of the deteriorating security situation. According to him, foreigners have joined the FTO and were using kamikaze drones to attack government troops.
