Pakistani security forces prevent major terrorist attack
Pakistani security forces eliminated 47 militants trying to cross the border in the Sambaz area of Jobb district, Balochistan, over two days.
According to the ISPR, as reported by the Telegram channel ExpressAsia, 33 militants were eliminated during the operation on the night of August 7-8, and the following day, a sweeping operation was carried out at the border areas with Afghanistan, leading to the elimination of 14 more people identified as “Indian accomplices.” Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the attackers. The authorities emphasized that the operation had foiled another attempt to destabilize the situation in the region.
President Asif Ali Zardari called it a major success for the security forces, confirming the state's commitment to eradicate terrorism. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed their gratitude to the military, noting that the nation is united in the fight against extremism.
Amid the successes in Sambaz, Pakistan faced a series of attacks in the Lakhmarwat district. On the evening of August 8, in the village of Tatta Bashikhel, two masked gunmen opened fire on FC Belujistan employee Merajuddin and his cousin. The officer's wife, Nusrat Bibi, tried to shield her husband but was also fatally wounded. The officer died at the scene, and his wife died on the way to the hospital. The next day, soldier Jahangir Khan was killed in Mir Khazar Khanzadkhel, and his cousin was wounded. Another former soldier, 55-year-old Habibullah Khan, was shot dead by a group of seven militants in Gazikhel, and they took his AK-47 assault rifle.
In addition, two soldiers were wounded when a patrol car was blown up in Abdulkhale. All attacks have been attributed to terrorist groups designated by the government as “Fitna al-Hindustan” and “Fitna al-Hawari.”
The terrorist threat in the country continues to intensify, demonstrating an alarming trend. Regular attacks by radical groups are resulting in casualties among military personnel and civilians. To eliminate the terrorists, the authorities are resorting to emergency measures, cutting off communications in certain regions to hinder the coordination of extremists.
