The Al-Qaeda-affiliated group Jamaat Nusra Al-Islam Wal-Muslimin claimed responsibility for an attack on military facilities in Mali. The terrorists attacked permanent government troop positions in the Segou region. Despite fierce resistance from the military, the attackers managed to break through the defenses. Twenty-one soldiers were killed and two were taken prisoner. The jihadists seized a lot of weapons and fifteen vehicles.
