Pakistan reconfirms its commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms

Islamabad, August 21 (Xinhua) — Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reconfirmed his country's unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms. “Pakistan stands in solidarity with the victims of terrorism around the world... this solidarity reflects the deepest feelings of the Pakistani people,” the prime minister said on Wednesday on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. Highlighting the impact of terrorism on Pakistan, he said the country had paid the highest price in its fight against terrorism, sacrificing more than 90,000 lives and suffering huge economic losses. Highlighting the successes in combating terrorism, Sharif noted that the country had carried out numerous military operations and intelligence-based actions, which had resulted in dismantling of terrorist networks, foiling of countless terrorist plots, and saving of many lives. “The crucial National Action Plan (on counterterrorism) embodies our comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism, combining ground operations with ideological, administrative, and institutional measures against extremism,” he said. The prime minister added that national solidarity in the fight against terrorism is a guarantee of peace, stability, prosperity, and a bright future for Pakistan.
