September 4. At least six people were killed in an attack on a passenger car in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported, citing police sources.

The incident occurred in a rural area of Kurram district, where unknown attackers opened fire on the vehicle, according to a statement by Kohat regional police district Abbas Majid Marwat.

He said that after the attack, police and security forces immediately launched a search operation in the area.

So far, 12 suspects have been taken into custody, and a cache of weapons has been found during the ongoing operation, Marwat added.

Numerous police and security forces are searching homes in the area to find the attackers. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
