Astrakhan resident sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for assisting terrorists

A court sentenced a resident of the Astrakhan region, born in 1975, to 10 years in a strict regime colony for aiding Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham foreign terrorist organization (banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the regional department of Federal Security Service of Russia.

During a search of the defendant's apartment, weapons and ammunition, explosives, prohibited religious literature, cash and plastic cards, as well as electronic media were found. A criminal case was initiated against him based on the Article on “Assistance to terrorist activities, illegal possession of weapons, illegal possession of explosives or explosive devices, illegal manufacture of weapons.”
