Student sentenced to 16 years for extremism in Altai of Russia

According to the regional FSB department, at the beginning of 2021, the student, who was a supporter of the nationalist ideology, decided to establish a terrorist organization. He searched the Internet for information about manufacturing of explosive devices and ways to conduct actions to terrorize the public.

In February 2021, a student found like-minded people online and was tasked to sel ect the targets and provide a photo report. The perpetrator completed the task and received a new instruction. To confirm his commitment, he had to set fire to a car.

“At the stage of preparation for the assignment, his activities were thwarted. Explosives and explosive devices, extremist literature and means of communication containing photographic materials showing the potential targets, which included places of mass residence of Muslims, were found and confiscated fr om the attacker,” the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Altai Territory reported.
