In Karelia, a foreigner sent to a colony for financing terrorism

The 2nd Western District Military Court issued a sentence against a native of one of the CIS who lived in Petrozavodsk, Russia. The man financed a banned terrorist organization. This information was disclosed by the press service of the FSB department of Karelia.

According to the agency, the defendant approved the actions of a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation. He met its members on social media and corresponded with them. And then he transferred 23 thousand roubles to them.

The foreigner was detained, a criminal case was opened against him under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Assistance to terrorist activities.”

The court sentenced the young man to nine years in prison.
