FSB detained a Mordovia resident who planned a mass shooting

A resident of Mordovia was planning a mass shooting in crowded places. The tragedy was prevented by the officers of the regional FSB Department.

As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the department, a 30-year-old man who had a permit to carry weapons posted Columbine-themed materials on social media (the Columbine movement was recognized as terrorist one in Russia).

During the search, the FSB operatives found a Saiga carbine and a traumatic pistol. His personal diary contained entries with descriptions of mass murders in crowded places. During the interrogation, the person spoke about frequent attacks of aggression, hatred for himself and others, which he tried to suppress.

At the initiative of the agency, the man was hospitalized in the Mordovian Republican Psychiatric Hospital. After a mental assessment, his license to carry weapons was revoked.
