CSTO reports an increase in the IS terrorist numbers on the southern borders of Tajikistan

There are about 6,500 militants of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization based in Afghanistan. About 4,000 of them are located on the southern borders of Tajikistan. This was stated by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov. He stressed that terrorists were the main threat to the stability of the Central Asian region.

The CSTO representatives also stated that the situation in their area of responsibility remains complex and tense.
