Iraqi intelligence services arrest several IS leaders

The National Intelligence Service of Iraq announced the arrest of several Islamic State leaders of (IS, banned in the Russian Federation), who were preparing terrorist acts outside the country.

It is noted that these people were involved in earlier attacks committed both within Iraq and abroad.

Combating IS is complicated by its decentralized nature; there are many leaders, but there no absolute head which could be eliminated to disorganize the radicals. There is an unknown number of sleeper cells in Iraq and Syria, largely isolated from each other. They periodically commit terrorist acts against civilians and attack security forces.
