Six terrorists killed in police raid in Pakistan
Pakistani police eliminated six terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country. This was reported on Thursday by local media.
Early Thursday morning, staff of the counter-terrorism police department conducted a raid in the Dodivala area based on intelligence obtained earlier. This was reported by local media, citing official sources.
The terrorists opened fire on the police after they were asked to surrender. A fierce gunfight ensued. All six terrorists were killed on the spot, reports said.
Four of those were identified as members of the outlawed terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, police stated.
The police also seized a cache of large stocks of ammunition, automatic handguns and hand grenades.
An official told Xinhua that security forces also carried out an operation in the North Waziristan tribal district in the northwest part of the country on Wednesday evening and arrested six terrorists, including three suicide bombers, who planned to attack security forces in the district.
