Death penalty for terrorists bill approved by Israeli cabinet after a terrorist attack

Another terrorist attack took place on Route 60 highway near Huwara town on February 26. The terrorist shot dead two civilians.

According to preliminary data, the terrorist rammed into the Israeli car. Then he got out of the car and opened fire at his victims. The Israel Defense Forces closed roads in the area to traffic. The manhunt for the terrorist is on.

Shortly after the attack, the Ministerial Committee on Legislative Affairs discussed a bill by MK Limor Son Har Meleh from Otzma Yehudit, which aims to apply death penalty to terrorists.

The Political Security Cabinet must be convened before the bill is proposed. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he had no objection to the convening of the Cabinet of Ministers, conditional on the approval of the bill in a preliminary reading. This has been done.

Under the draft law proposed by the Otzma Yehudit party, the court will be able to impose the death penalty on those who committed the crime of ethnically motivated murder against Israeli citizens. The committee decided that after the preliminary vote on the law, there would be a Political Security Cabinet discussion of the wording of the law.
