Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan spoke about the security situation in the country

Over the past six months since the terrorist attack near the Russian embassy in Kabul, the situation in the country has further deteriorated. Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan Dmitry Zhirnov spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia newspaper.

In particular, the Russian diplomat gave examples of the terrorist attack near the hotel where the Chinese stayed, the attack on the Pakistani ambassador, attacks at the entrances to the airport and the Afghan Foreign Ministry.

“This has never happened before. The terrorists never behaved so boldly and defiantly. And this is just Kabul, and just the highest profile terrorist attacks. Numerous attacks on mosques, schools, checkpoints, buses are happening across the country. Thus, things are not going very well,” Dmitry Zhirnov emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that over the past year and a half after the Taliban takeover, this was not always the case, and initially the Taliban managed to restrain the terrorist underground.
