Penza region resident detained in the case of terrorism financing

FSB officers detained a resident of the Penza region involved in financing the Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham terrorist organization that is banned in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the regional FSB department.

“The investigative department of the FSB of Russia for the Penza region initiated a criminal case under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia, and the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 81 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Russia,” the report says.

According to the agency, this man born in 2000 is accused of transferring money to a member of a terrorist organization operating in Syria in order to overthrow the government in that country.
