UN head vows solidarity with Africa in combating terrorism

On Tuesday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirmed the organization's solidarity with Africa in combating terrorism, while expressing concern that “traces of terror” spread across the whole continent.

The UN supports Africa in putting an end to terrorism, António Guterres said, noting the efforts of the UN, including ongoing close cooperation with the African Union, as well as regional and sub-regional African organizations.

According to him, the UN, together with Nigeria, will hold the African Summit on Combating Terrorism. The UN is also strengthening cooperation on important peace initiatives such as the High-Level Independent Panel on Security and Development in the Sahel, António Guterres added.
