A foreigner sentenced to 12 years for promoting terrorism on Sakhalin

A court on Sakhalin Island (Russia) sentenced a 37-year-old citizen of one of the Central Asian republics to 12 years in prison for assisting in preparing to commit terrorist crimes. This was reported by the press service of the FSB of Russia for the Sakhalin region.

 

It has been established that a foreign citizen was a supporter of radical Islam movements. While living in the Sakhalin region, he communicated with an active member of a foreign terrorist organization through the Internet and decided to engage in the activities of the radical group. In accordance with the role assigned to him within this proscribed organization, he systematically transferred money to the militants and provided them with other assistance in preparing for the  terrorist crimes.
