Investigative Committee announced detention of another member of the Basayev and Khattab gang

The Investigative Committee of Russia announced the detention of a resident of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Abdulyalim Dzhumagishiev who was a member of the terrorist groups of Shamil Basayev and Emir Khattab. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Committee.

The criminal case is being investigated in relation to the armed fight between Russian servicemen and militants of Khattab and Basayev in October 1999 in the area of the village of Chervlennaya in the Shelkovskoy district of Chechnya.

Investigators established that Dzhumagishiev had joined a group led by Basayev and Khattab in 1998. In October 1999, he also participated in the clash. As a result of massive shelling, 15 Russian soldiers were killed, 28 were injured then.

On April 4, 2023, Dzhumagishiev was detained by the FSB and charged with committing an armed rebellion, participating in a gang, and encroaching on the lives of servicemen.

In November 2022, security forces detained two residents of the Stavropol Territory involved in the assaults by illegal gangs led by Basayev and Khattab from Chechnya in Botlikh district of the Republic of Dagestan in 1999.
