Terrorist cell busted in the Kirov region and Tatarstan

An active cell of supporters of the international terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham, banned in Russia, was uncovered in the Kirov region and Tatarstan in Russia.

Members of the network held secret meetings among Muslims, recruiting potential militants to be sent to Syria. In addition, it was found that there were repeated transfers of money to active members of this group, the press service of the FSB of Russia in the Kirov region reported.

The security services do not mention the number of detainees, but indicate that they seized extremist literature, communication equipment, banking cards and documents during the searches. All these are evidence of illegal activity.

In particular, 12 counts were identified, which are classified under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation providing for punishment for involvement in extremist and terrorist activities.
