Pakistan intends to target terrorists in Afghanistan

If the Afghan government does not eliminate the terrorist threat to Pakistan, the Pakistani army will target terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan's border areas, defense minister Khawaja Asif said, according to The Dawn.

However, he stressed that official Kabul was on the right track to disengage from the Pakistani wing of the Taliban, although he added that this disengagement could take a long time.

The minister noted that Pakistan does not require US assistance in combating terrorism in the country.

Earlier, the minister said that the threat of terrorism from Afghanistan has not disappeared, especially for the Pakistani border province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
