Militants from Uzbekistan arrested in Indonesia

The Indonesian authorities stated that they successfully detained four Uzbek militants who took part in the civil war in Syria. This was reported by The Jamestown.

According to authorities, the men were members of the Katibat Imam al Bukhari terrorist organization. They managed to infiltrate Indonesia through Turkey. One of the detained militants was responsible for supporting the organization financially and providing false documents to the group members. Three others were engaged in propaganda of extremist narratives.

It is noted that on April 11, the criminals tried to escape and killed a migration officer when he was preparing a pre-dawn Ramadan meal. The authorities suggest that they did this after they were visited by employees of the consulate of Uzbekistan. The militants were afraid of repatriation and severe punishment for their atrocities.
