An IS supporter who was preparing a terrorist attack detained in the Stavropol Territory

A supporter of the Islamic State (terrorist organization banned in Russia), who was preparing a terrorist attack at the instruction of foreign supervisors, was detained in the Stavropol Territory. This was reported by the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia.

According to the FSB, the suspect planned to commit a terrorist attack at one of the public facilities. The man was detained in the city of Mineralnye Vody when preparing for the crime. During the interrogation, he admitted that at the time of arrest he was studying the situation before committing the attack.

When the suspect's apartment was searched, law enforcement officers seized components and damaging elements intended for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device. They also found means for secret communication with IS emissaries in the Middle East. A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway.
