Taliban reject US allegations that Afghanistan has become an ISIS base

A spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) dismissed Washington's claims that ISIS is using the country to plan and orchestrate terrorist attacks against the US and its allies. It was reported by Ariana News.

Before that, the media got another “secret document” of the Pentagon, which claims that Afghan soil has become a base for regional branches of ISIS to carry out “desirable conspiracies’ against targets in the US and Europe.

IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid called the assessment “fake” and part of the “ongoing US propaganda campaign” against the Taliban government. The official statement said that the IEA government “has complete control” over Afghanistan and does not allow anyone to use its territory to attack other countries.

According to Mujahid, ISIS and other terrorist groups in the country are “seriously weakened and are in the process of being eliminated.” Mujahid added that the IEA has provided security in Afghanistan since regaining control of the country in August 2021, citing the peaceful celebration of the annual three-day holiday of Eid al-Fitr as an example.

“Obviously, the fact that such biased material are published shows that some people in America have not forgotten their hatred and enmity towards the people of Afghanistan,” he said.

The Washington Post told about the classified U.S. intelligence document linked to Afghanistan, saying it was part of a set of documents posted on the Discord social platform.

“ISIS has been developing a cost-effective model for external operations that relies on resources from outside Afghanistan, operatives in target countries, and extensive facilitation networks,” the paper said. “The model will likely enable ISIS to overcome obstacles — such as competent security services — and reduce some plot timelines, minimizing disruption opportunities.”

Mujahid called the publication “an irresponsible statement, the work of intelligence circles,” which, he said, “does not bode well for the Afghans.” “Everyone should understand that nowadays the public consciousness no longer accepts such provocations,” Mujahid wrote on Twitter.

US officials have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the “leak.”
