China urges Taliban government to fight terrorism resolutely

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang pointed to the need for a resolute fight against terrorism during a meeting with interim Afghan foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Islamabad

“You must keep your promise and really counter terrorism, delivering decisive blows against terrorists, including the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and organizations in Afghanistan,” the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted Qin Gang as saying.

According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, Beijing respects the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and will deepen cooperation with it in all areas. “We will help the Afghan side achieve independence, peace, stability, development and prosperity as soon as possible,” he stressed.

“Whatever the situation is in the world or in the region, the PRC will always stand together with the Afghan people, supporting your country on the development path in accordance with its national specifics,” he concluded.
