Iraqi law enforcement forces eliminate a group of terrorists in Diyala province

According to the local media, intelligence agencies located the group that financed the Islamic State (IS) militants and supplied them with food and ammunition within the region. Law enforcement officers organized an ambush and detained four criminals. Criminal cases have been initiated against them.

Despite the fact that the main IS forces in Iraq were defeated a few years ago, there is still tension in some regions of the country. In the past two years, the militants have become more active, carrying out a series of resonant assaults and terrorist attacks. In particular, members of the group repeatedly undermined main power transmission lines, temporarily leaving vast territories without electricity.

In response, the security forces of Iraq and the Kurdish militia carried out a series of counter-terrorist operations, clearing regions of the country one after another. Nevertheless, the sleeping cells of militants still operate underground.
