In Rostov, an IS member sentenced to 12 years in prison for preparing a terrorist attack in Stavropol

The Southern District Military Court convicted a citizen on a number of articles related to terrorism, the press service of the court told RG.

On October 12, 2021, in Stavropol, the defendant took an oath of allegiance to the head of the Islamic State (foreign terrorist organization banned in Russia). He recorded his oath and sent the voice recording via the Internet.

The person involved in the criminal case decided to arrange an explosion at one of the transport infrastructure facilities in his own city. He purchased the components necessary to make the improvised explosive device.

However, he failed to implement his criminal plans. The next day, law enforcement officers seized an improvised explosive device.
