Al Jazeera: head of Taliban interim government resigns for health reasons

Prime Minister of the interim government of Afghanistan, formed by the radical Taliban movement, Mohammad Hasan Akhund asked to be relieved of his post for health reasons. This was announced on Tuesday by the Al Jazeera TV channel, citing a source in the Taliban government.

 

According to an unnamed Afghan official, Abdul Kabir has been named interim prime minister in the Taliban government. Previously, he served as Akhund's deputy for political affairs.

 

This information was confirmed by a source of the Afghan TV channel Tolo News. The source indicated that the leader of the Taliban Haibatullah Akhundzada ordered to appoint Kabir to the position of head of the interim Afghan cabinet.
