An AUE supporter sentenced to a real prison term for calls for terrorism on Sakhalin,

On May 18, on Sakhalin, a verdict of the district military court against a supporter of AUE youth criminal movement entered into force.


As it became known to, the 33-year-old foreigner was found guilty of publicly calling for terrorism. He was an adherent of radical Islam and a supporter of extremist views. He has lived in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk since he came to Russia in 2021. While still living in his homeland, he became interested in the activities of the terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and others.

During the daytime, in his circle, the man positioned himself as an adherent of the AUE criminal movement banned in Russia, and at night he communicated with the militants fighting in Syria, expressing support and recognition to them.

In December 2021, the man posted photos justifying and propagating the ideology of terrorism, as well as images of flags, members and leaders of various terrorist organizations, including the notorious founder of al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden on his page on the Odnoklassniki social media.


According to the defendant, members of organizations banned in Russia fought against “infidels” in Syria and Iraq and sought to establish a state with cruel orders. In his opinion, the actions of these persons were correct and justified, even if they were regarded as terrorist.


The man pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to two years in prison without the right to publicly post materials in the public information and communication network, considering his minor child and assistance to the investigation as extenuating circumstances.
