Militant of a terrorist organization brought to Uzbekistan from abroad

A militant of a terrorist organization, who is accused of committing very grave crimes, was brought to Uzbekistan from abroad, Podrobno.uz reports.

“A 36-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan fell under the influence of religious extremist narratives and recruiters of foreign terrorist organizations through social media; he was maintaining constant contact with them,” the Ministry of Interior noted.

In 2016, influenced by them, he went to Syria, joined a foreign terrorist organization and underwent combat training.

Due to the efforts undertaken jointly with foreign law enforcement agencies, this Uzbek citizen was detained in one of the foreign countries and brought back to our country.

Currently, investigation is underway and a criminal case is initiated against him.
