The court sentenced former Kalmyk colony prisoners to new terms for establishing an IS cell
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced four former prisoners of the Kalmyk colony who created an IS cell of the (Islamic State terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). This was reported by the press service of the court.
It is known from the report that Shkiptana, Magomedov, Khidiev and Oskanov were found guilty under Zrticle 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Organization of a Terrorist Community”. The latter was also convicted for public calls for terrorist activities. The defendants were sentenced to 8-10 years in prison.
The court established that in 2013, while serving time in a correctional facility in the Republic of Kalmykia, they established an IS cell. The prisoners studied Arabic, raised funds and held lectures promoting terrorist narratives.
