FSB Border Service identified 1.5 thousand people associated with extremism and terrorism in 2022

In 2022, Russian border guards identified more than 1,500 people associated with the terrorist and extremist organizations when they were trying to enter Russia. First Deputy Director of the FSB of Russia, Head of the Border Service, General of the Army Vladimir Kulishov, said this to TASS in his interview on the Border Guard Day.


Earlier it was reported that in 2021, border guards identified 787 foreigners involved in extremist and terrorist organizations, including about 100 supporters of the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda; in 2020, when the borders were closed due to a pandemic, this figure amounted to more than 400 persons; and in 2018, more than 1.1 thousand such foreigners were prevented from entering the Russian Federation at the border.
