The State Security Service identified one of the militants fighting in Syria

The State Security Service (SSS) has identified one of the militants fighting in Syria. This is a resident of Tashkent who fell under the influence of terrorist recruiters, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.

The security forces found out that a 40-year-old resident of Tashkent moved to Turkey and fell under the influence of recruiters of the Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad. After that, he entered Syria through detours and joined this terrorist organization. At present, the Uzbek man is taking part in the hostilities.

Based on these facts, a criminal case was initiated under Article 244-2 (Creation, Leadership, Participation in Religious Extremist, Separatist, Fundamentalist or Other Prohibited Organizations) of the Criminal Code.

In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court as of September 26, 2016, the activities of the Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad FTO are prohibited in Uzbekistan.
